- With this version of Design SHELL we have included a utility that
- converts Windows Icon files (.ICO) to the format that Design SHELL can
- use (.ICN).
-
- This documentation will explain how to use the Icon file converter
- (ICO2ICN.EXE).
-
- This Icon converter must be run from the DOS prompt and not through
- any kind of DOS shell or menu application.
-
- To operate the Icon converter:
-
- 1>- Copy the ICO2ICN.EXE file to any directory that is included in
- your AUTOEXEC.BAT files PATH statement.
-
- 2>- Copy all of the Windows Icon files (.ICO) that you want to convert,
- into a temporary directory on your hard drive.
-
- 3>- From the DOS prompt, move into this new directory.
-
- 4>- From the DOS prompt, type: ICO2ICN and then press enter.
-
- 5>- Once the Icon converter is up and running, click your left mouse
- button on the Files button.
-
- 6>- At this point, all .ICO files should be listed in a scrolling tag
- menu.
-
- 7>- Tag all of the Icon files that you want to convert by clicking
- your left mouse button on the filenames you want to convert. A
- tagged file should have an asterisk to the left of the filename.
- You can also tag all files by clicking on the plus key (+) button
- or un-tag all files by clicking on the minus key (-) button.
-
- 8>- This Icon conversion program provides you with two conversion
- options. Just below the files list, notice a prompt that says
- 'Delete .ICO after convert'. If you click your left mouse button
- on the gray button, a red check mark should appear. Clicking on
- the button will toggle this option on or off. If a red check mark
- is present, the original .ICO file will be deleted after the
- conversion process. If a red check mark is not present, the
- original .ICO file will not be deleted, only a copy will be made
- in the .ICN format.
-
- 9>- After all files you want converted are tagged and you have set the
- conversion method, simply click your left mouse button on the
- 'Convert Tagged' button. Each .ICO file will be displayed on
- screen and you will be prompted as to whether you want to convert
- this Icon. Clicking on the green <enter> button will convert this
- icon and the converted Icon will then be displayed. Clicking on
- the lavender <not> button will skip this Icon and move to the next
- tagged Icon to convert.
-
- 10>- After all tagged Icons have been converted, you will be returned
- to the beginning menu screen. Simply click your left mouse button
- on the 'esc' button to exit to DOS. Copy all converted Icon files
- (.ICN) into the directory that you are using to store your Design
- SHELL Icons in. You may then delete all remaining files in the
- temporary directory and then remove the temporary directory.
